You'd better live it in the maximum heat....overall is al right Customer Rating: Summary: Third time lucky Comment: The first machine I received from Amazon was damaged in transit so had to be sent back and their returns procedure was first class. After it had been sent back I discovered the same machine in Costco and it was more than six pounds cheaper,so purchase number two was made unfortunately after using only once the machine refused to heat up, so again was returned and replaced for a third machine. So far this is working ok and producing excellent results using paninis and ciabattas so I am glad that I persevered until I got a good machine,I can't agree with one of the other reviewers who said that the end result i.e flat toasted paninis and ciabattas with hot melted contents could not be achieved with this machine,I am very pleased with the end result and can recommend the Kenwood SM606. Customer Rating: Summary: The Plates are NOT Removable Comment: This is more the fault of Amazon - I searched under 'Sandwich Toasters Removable Plates' and assumed that all the machines then shown would have removable plates that are easier to wash, etc. This MACHINE DOES NOT HAVE REMOVABLE PLATES, other wise it is fine. Wanted to send it back but didnt want the hassle of posting and obtaining a refund so accepted it. The product itself is good and very useful Customer Rating: Summary: Excellent sandwich maker Comment: After many years of useful service our old sandwich maker gave up the ghost. I thought this one would be the same - where the edges of the bread are sealed, creating a pocket of filling. I was therefore a little dubious when it arrived and there was just a grill. However, I'm so glad I've got it - the paninis are fantastic, as are the toasties. It heats up very quickly and doesn't take very long to cook the sandwich or panini. It can also be used for straight forward toast. Really, really pleased.
