Hozelock Aqua Control Water Timer User Reviews: Customer Rating: Summary: Keep it simple! Comment: I have invested in several of these now, and they are brill - cheap but do the job and are reliable. They work fine off a water butt. Batteries last the season if you have the valve opening once a day. I always take mine in in the winter as they dont like getting frozen..... I've never had any problems with water ingress, so I've no idea why other reviewers have complained. The only limitation is that setting the start time is pretty basic. If you want it to start at 2 a.m., you have to rotate the dial to 'auto-start' at 2 a.m. On the other hand, it's an entry-level timer and good value for money. I use mine for about 8 months of the year and store them in the garage when it gets very cold. I change the batteries every 2 years. Recommended.
