Customer Rating: Summary: value Samsung monitor Comment: Samsung P2450H 24-inch Widescreen Full HD 1920 x 1080p Monitor (2ms, HDMI, Rose Red)
Real value for money. Great contrast ratio. Crisp graphics and flexibility via the "magic tune" programme. Only downside is the fragile stand, but once in situ shouldn't be a problem.
It's now further reduced in price, so even better value. Too soon to judge reliability.
Customer Rating: Summary: Excellent choice. Quality product. Comment: Bought one of these to replace the non-wide 17" flat panel on my 4 year old HP Pavilion Media Center PC, with its original ATI Radeon X1600 graphics card capable of 1980x1020 display, i.e. OK for the Samsung display.
The display has a quality look and feel. I like the touch buttons on lower right corner of the display bezel. These light up gently when you touch them for adjustments to the screen. At other times the buttons are not lit, so they don't distract.
The stand is pretty basic. It's good quality, with tilt adjustment but is not height adjustable. Then again, this would add to the price. On a normal height desk and with a normal desk chair, the screen is a little low. General recommendations are that the top of the display area should be approx in line with your eyes. The screen is around 4 inches lower than this. As a solution I have just ordered a "Fellowes Smart Suites Monitor Riser" for £14.
The screen casing and the stand are a nice glossy piano black. This looks good but the downside is that it does attract a lot of dust. A cleaning cloth is included in the box. You make the cloth damp and then gently wipe away the dust. Works well enough, so no real complaint on that front, but I wonder if it's possible to treat or coat the plastic surface to repel dust.
The display image quality is excellent, with good contrast and colour. There are presets for different uses such as "text", "internet" and "games". These presets are about right. You can, of course, make custom settings of your own.
The HDMI and Digital inputs are nice. I would have liked to have had speakers in the screen too, and would have been willing to pay a little extra for this.
One thing to mention: when you adjust your favourite PC games to use the new higher-res screen, you may find that your graphics card is not up to it. I had this experience and have just upgraded the PC with a Sapphire HD4670 512MB card. Very happy with the result.
Overall, a very nice screen. If I had another PC to upgrade, I would buy another of these.
Customer Rating: Summary: Great Monitor - Crap Software Comment: Have just purchased this replacement monitor and it arrived quickly (thanks amazon) It looks really great, set up was easy butwhen I tried to install and run the enclosed magictune software that came on a disc, it fails to run. I even managed to go thru to Samsungs website and it says that this monitor is NOT compatable with this software program. Also it does not mention that it will also only work with cetain graphics cards. I have a Nvidia GE8500GT and i'm out of luck. It would have been so much easier to be able to use the mouse to adjust colore, resolutions and everything rather than to use the very fiddly touch sensitive buttons on the front of the screen.
Regret to say that I am dissapointed with this and the monitor is now on its way back to amazon. Pity, because it is a real good looker.
Customer Rating: Summary: Superb Monitor! Comment: I don't normally write reviews but think that this is such a great product that I would; Plug and play, worked straight out of the box and no dead pixels. Beautifully finished, I quite like the controls, and the definition is stunning. Works great with my Gigabyte MA785GM-US2H motherboard and I am running the monitor off the DVI-D port. I have not got a particularly fast PC (AMD Athlon 64 x2 2.2GHz 2Gbyte RAM) but this monitor runs perfectly, fantastic with blu-ray DVD, a thing of beauty!
Customer Rating: Summary: Awesome Monitor Comment: I have been looking for an upgrade to my 22"widescreen lcd for a while now as it was getting old and i do a lot of 3d and graphics work from home so decided to invest in some proper equipment. I looked at loads of options including LG and even some benq LED screens, but because this had hdmi, DVI and vga and was 24", i decided to go for it and I ordered two. The monitor is amazing, the colour quality and sharpness really make you want to sit in front of the computer and produce quality work. The monitors are set very bright when you start up so you will need to adjust the brightness levels and colour settings. two of these will give you over a metre(120cm) of screenspace.
I am extremely pleased with these monitors because they give you excellent flexibility. I have my main work machine attached to the two monitors via DVI in dual display mode, i have a mac mini attached to one monitor via vga, and my xbox360 connected to the other monitor via vga, so i still have two hdmi sockets left for anything else in future, so no more changing and swapping cables behind the monitor. Plus the monitors have an easy input select button on the front.
I have tested crysis wars and modern warfare 2 at the highest 1920x1080 resolution and the picture is crisp and the 2ms response timing means theres no more ghosting or lag. The touch buttons at the front are not as bad as I expected, can be a bit hard to get the press in the right place but its minor. The monitors look beautiful too with a glass bezel with red tint along the bottom. You won't be disapointed and for the price its a steal.
